It is very fitting that introductions between EAG’s CEO Scott Ringlein and Dr. Samuel Lee Hancock, would be the result of an Earth Day event!

The event was an Earth Day Celebration hosted by Parjana Green on April 21st, 2015 in the Detroit area. The event encouraged participants to come together to “share your voice and passion for sustainability…Together we can build a green Detroit and ensure a sustainable world.”

Dr. Hancock, who is the President & Executive Director of the EmeraldPlanet International Foundation , attended the event that was in part sponsored by The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan (EAG). Dr. Hancock was a strong supporter of sustainability before most people knew what the word entailed. His non profit organization has a stated goal of:

“…identifying at least 1,000 ‘best practices’ for sustainable environmental and economic development. Our efforts are to link those having such best practices with those needing the technologies, processes, services, and products to be outstanding ecological stewards of their resources.”

Steve Payer and Tom Gallagher of EAG attended the event where they were introduced to Dr. Hancock. They discussed how EAG is using PACE to develop comprehensive energy renovations in diverse businesses and commercial properties. They also described the efforts of Scott Ringlein to advance Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) throughout Michigan. Following the event introductions were made between EAG’s CEO and Dr. Hancock and an interesting exchange took place.

PACERinglein described how getting decision makers to understand the full benefits of PACE is the difficult part of the equation due to the learning curve that must be overcome. Without the proper information, decision makers are more apt to do nothing regarding energy efficiency and little gets accomplished. Dr. Hancock had an immediate solution!

Dr. Hancock is the host of the TV program EmeraldPlanet and he responded to the PACE conversation with this comment:

“…you can be most proud of your leadership for and involvement in the expanding economy and improving environment of Detroit. It will be a great pleasure to honor your work through The EmeraldPlanet Television Productions. We are continuing our 2015 program year discussing the impacts of many innovative projects by national and internationally renowned organizations, such as yours, which have important interactions between advanced research, discovery, and lessons learned.”

The Future of Detroit: Sustainable Development – Green Jobs – Renewable Energy – Resource Conservation – Urban Agriculture

To “honor your work” Scott Ringlein along with several other guests will be interviewed on the May 31st broadcast of the EmeraldPlanet in a program entitled “The Future of Detroit.” The program hopes to explore Detroit and its on-going recovery as it relates to sustainable development, green jobs, renewable energy, resource conservation, waste management and urban agriculture.

In addition to discussing sustainability in and around Detroit, Ringlein will have the opportunity to discuss a current PACE project in the heart of the city. This latest PACE project will be a green renovation of an iconic Detroit entertainment venue!

EAG is proud and honored to be a part of these discussions with Dr. Hancock and share our best practices with the EmeraldPlanet followers. Here is a LINK to view the resulting interview.
