The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan (EAG) welcomes two more employees to its team of energy solutions experts and advocates.
Nancy Clay
Nancy Clay has been hired as Corporate Communications Director, coordinating EAG news, photos, events, and information about EAG alliance partners. She’s comes to EAG with more than 30 years experience in the newspaper industry working as a reporter, editor, community relations manager and a member of the senior management team.
She worked at The Ann Arbor News, The Bay City Times, the Midland Daily News and the Big Rapids Pioneer. Clay also worked at Washtenaw Community College coordinating the Washtenaw Economic Club, a luncheon and lecture series for the local business community.
Clay, who lives in Dexter, has been involved with numerous community groups, including the Legacy Land Conservancy marketing committee, United Way of Washtenaw County, Washtenaw Literacy and has volunteered at her church and other organizations and is a lifelong blood donor.
She’s a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in journalism and political science and is a graduate of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Michigan Shifting Gears program.
“We are very fortunate to have Nancy join our organization bringing with her not only an exceptional talent for writing, but understanding how to gain exposure to our news,” said Scott Ringlein, founder and CEO of The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan.
EAG also welcomes another Michigan Shifting Gears participant, Steven Payer, who is interning with EAG of Michigan, assisting Ringlein with market research and new business opportunities. Payer is a mechanical engineer who worked more than 30 years with General Motors Corporation as a total design integration engineer and a product engineer.

He’s a graduate of Western New England College, Springfield, MA, and received his masters’ degree in counseling at Oakland University. Payer also has worked as a financial counselor for a Farmington Hills non-profit, Greenpath Inc.
He’s helped with Oakland County Youth Assistance Program, Common Ground Sanctuary and is active in his church. “I was looking to be involved in a growth-oriented sustainable business that is environmentally and socially responsible, so this seems like a really good fit for me,” Payer said.
“Steve not only brings to our team an exceptional prior career and experience but a true desire to bring energy efficiency to the forefront of business decision making. He will make an excellent addition to our team after he completes his internship,” said Ringlein.
