The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan has entered into a contract with the Roostertail, Detroit’s premier waterfront entertainment facility, to develop a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) energy efficiency and facility improvement project for the venue.

PACE financing of the Roostertail project will be arranged through the Lean and Green Michigan PACE finance district. Private lenders provide the funding upfront for PACE projects, and are paid back through a voluntary special property tax assessment, which is generally the length of the expected life of the improvements.

“The Roostertail will transform its late 1950s energy inefficient technologies to 21st century energy-efficient technologies while incurring no out-of-pocket expense and will achieve a positive return on investment (ROI) from day one.

“The scope of the project is expected to include building envelope improvements, lighting, geothermal, solar and improvements to the commercial kitchens and laundry facilities,” according to Scott Ringlein, CEO of The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan.

Because EAG is technology neutral and does not rep any particular product or technology, the company is able to find the best contractors and vendors for each energy improvement project.

Roostertail already saving on natural gas thanks to EAG

The Roostertail also is enjoying a reduction in the cost of its natural gas as a result of its relationship with EAG. Signing a contract with one of EAG’s partners, Volunteer Engineer, Roostertail was able to lock in a fixed rate realizing a 4 percent overall reduction.

Volunteer Energy, Inc., a partner of The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan, was able to secure that lower cost for the Roostertail, though Michigan’s Natural Gas Customer Choice program.

The Roostertail, 100 Marquette Drive, Detroit, serving the southeastern Michigan area since 1958, began as a restaurant and now specializes in private events (wedding, proms, corporate events), with meeting/dining rooms that can accommodate between 50 and 500 guests.
